CONCORD, N.H. —  A giant spoon aimed to draw attention to the country’s opioid crisis will be on display this weekend in New Hampshire.

The Concord Monitor reports Boston artist Domenic Esposito will bringing the 10-foot-long spoon to Kimball Jenkins in Concord Sunday afternoon. Esposito, who has a family member struggling with drug addiction, says he created the 800-pound spoon to highlight those responsible for the epidemic. He initially created a similar spoon and placed it outside Purdue Pharma, the maker of Oxycontin, in June 2018.

Now, Esposito’s newest creation is touring the Northeast. During stops in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire, Esposito is asking visitors who lost loved ones to the opioid crisis to sign it.

New Hampshire has been hit hard by the opioid crisis with about 450 drug overdose deaths in 2018.
