ENFIELD -- An event honoring Black History Month at Asnuntuck Community College highlighted the changing image of African Americans in comic books.

Naugatuck Community College Professor William H Foster III is a comic book scholar who has written two books on black characters in comics.

Foster says they've become more inclusive since World War II ended.

The first comic book written and drawn by an African American was in 1947.
