REDDING — A judge has denied a Connecticut woman’s request to delay tree maintenance because she’s concerned there will be excessive cutting.

The Danbury News-Times reports that Nancy Burton, of Redding, sought an injunction barring utility Eversource from trimming trees along power lines in the town. The request was denied Monday.

Burton argues that trees cut in 2015 suffered permanent damage, increasing limb loss and creating a safety hazard.

The maintenance is done every four years.

She argues Eversource didn’t provide residents with enough information or an alternative option to protect the lines.

Eversource Connecticut says it follows stringent regulations for clearance between trees and power lines to maintain safety and reliability. It says it’s reviewing the complaint and has voluntarily suspended tree maintenance near Burton’s home.

The next court action is July 22.
