HARTFORD — A Hartford man convicted of trafficking minors for sex has been sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.

While federal investigators identified five teenagers 26-year-old Toney Kelsey victimized, the Hartford Courant reports how witnesses testified that as many as 50 people worked as prostitutes for him.

Kelsey was originally arrested by Wethersfield police in 2016 after the discovery of minors being trafficked for sex at the Cityside Inn. Prosecutors say Kelsey recruited a 17-year-old girl to work as a prostitute and arranged to split half of the proceeds with her. He also contacted a 15-year-old girl using his Facebook account and set up prostitution appointments for her.

Kelsey has been ordered pay restitution to his minor victims and serve five years of supervised release after he finishes his prison term.
