MERIDEN - A Meriden business owner is trying to do his part to ease tension between police and the community.

On one of the Lyon and Billard Lumber Company trucks you will see in bold print, “All Lives Matter.”

Owner, Ed Goralnick, wants people to stare at the truck and really think about the statement, “All Lives Matter."

"You can't segregate people. I don't care if you're black, white, Hispanic. It cost me a few bucks, but it's worth it. We've gotta get the message out there,” said Goralnik.

Bishop John Selders, founder of Moral Monday Connecticut, a group calling for social justice, feels this sends the wrong message.

“When it comes to the slogan 'Black Lives Matter,' white people in particular get very angry and then say, well, 'All Lives Matter.' It should not be that because I affirm me, that somehow denigrates you,” said Selders.

Goralnik says that was not his intent.

“We're all the same. That's the way I look at it," he said.

He said with all that's happening out there, he wanted to dedicate the truck to police.

“They’re the ones who put their lives on the line every day. They’re the ones who we call. They don't get the respect, so we want to just thank them,” said Goralnik.
