Manchester police initially charged 23-year-old Matthew Wyman with 13 counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of risk of injury to a minor. He pleaded guilty Thursday to three of the charges and agreed to a 20-year prison sentence with 10 to serve and the remainder suspended for 10 years of probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
Police say Wyman, who knows the girl’s family, assaulted the victim three times last summer.
Prosecutors say the victim’s family agreed to the plea deal.
The Hartford Courant reports that Wyman’s lawyer told the judge that his client as “feels sick to his stomach” about what he did.
