MIDDLETOWN - A Middletown father is on a mission to promote fire safety, following his daughter's passing away.
Jeff Block started the One Innocent Life Foundation after his 21-year-old daughter, Eva, was killed in a fire in 2012 while she was living off-campus while attending Marist College. Two other students died in the fire as well.
Now, Block is taking things a step further by working with Middletown Police and Wesleyan University to simulate fires, as a way to teach fire safety.
On the organization's website, Block says, "My daughter died because she didn't have a plan for what to do in the event of a fire," and now he wants to make sure other students are prepared.
