NORWALK — A man was arrested over the weekend for social media comments that advocated violence against police officers.
The Norwalk Police Department received a tip Friday that an individual was posting threatening and shocking comments on Facebook in the wake of the Dallas police officer murders.
Detectives were able to locate the posts in question during their investigation, which indicated the gunman sympathized with the identified shooter, Mikah Xavier Johnson. In one post, he referred to Johnson as “a hero,” and also called for police officers to be killed.
Police identified the poster as Kurt Vanzuuk, 34, of Linden Street, Norwalk. They obtained a warrant for his arrest and brought him into custody the following day.
Vanzuuk is charged with Inciting Injury to Persons or Property. He is being held on $20,000 pending his July 19 court date.
Norwalk Police officials are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information may call detectives at (203) 854-3111.
