HARTFORD — The Old State House in downtown Hartford is shutting its doors to the public on Wednesday, June 29.

The building is owned by the City of Hartford and leased to the Office of Legislative Management. Seven employee work there and will be assigned, said Bill Bevacqua, V.P. of Administration and Communications for the Old State House.

The funding for the building was cut in the state budget, that takes effect July 1.

During the budget process, the management of the building was passed to DEEP, Bevacqua said. But, the Department of Legislative Affairs and DEEP haven’t been able to work out how to manage the building going forward.

Weddings and special events that were already booked there will be honored, but no future events will be scheduled there. No word yet on whether the weekly farmer’s market or summer concert series will continue.
