CINCINNATI–A city police officer is receiving national praise for a sweet gesture.

On Tuesday, an officer from the Cincinnati Police Department posted on a Facebook group about a young boy who was found by the third shift officers in District Three. The officers found him in the middle of the night and called 241-Kids, the local adoption and foster care service, but while they were waiting they wanted to make his stay comfortable.

The 3-year-old boy was wandering the streets, and he was in serious need of clothes.

Officer Jamie Landrum bought the child a coat, pants, shoes and fresh diapers.

But that wasn’t the end of the department’s kindness. Officer Will Nastold got down on the floor to lie down with the child to help him take a nap. The gesture was captured in a touching photo that has been shared more than 2,000 times in just 12 hours.

The boy’s mother, Tanisha Caldwell, was arrested early Tuesday morning when she came to pick up her son, and she was charged with endangering a child. PIX 11 reports that she admitted she was intoxicated when she came to pick the boy up at the police station, so he was placed in a relative’s care.
