NEW LONDON - Refugees, fleeing war and unrest, including Syrians, could soon find a new home in New London.

All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church bought the house right next door for the "sole" purpose of housing refugees.

The house on Jay Street is split up into two, one bedroom apartments... each with space for a big family or two couples to share.

The refuge for refugees is being coordinated through IRIS, Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, which is based in New Haven.

Several faith-based communities in the New London area are planning to help.

"We hope a sense of security, and a sense of home, and a sense of community are what we can offer," Pastor Anne Fuhrmeister of Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Waterford said.  "As well as a place of safety."

All Souls hopes to have the house renovated and move-in ready by August.
