WINDSOR -- Republican Gubernatorial hopefuls presented their vision to voters Wednesday night at the first debate for Republican candidates for Governor in 2018.
The event was hosted by FOX 61, the Hartford Courant, and the Connecticut Republican Party.
FOX61's Jennifer Bernstein moderated the debate along with Hartford Courant's Capitol Bureau Chief, Chris Keating.
"We’ve been led down a fiscal path of calamity by the Democrats and the public is going to get an opportunity to see a Republican solution for that," said J.R. Romano, Chairman of the CT GOP.
Seven candidates participated in the debate with topics including marijuana legalization, gun control, and the state budget crisis.
Michael Handler, Peter Lumaj, Prasad Srinivasan, David Walker, Steve Obsitnik, and Tim Herbst were the declared candidates on stage. Toni Boucher participated in the second half of the debate as an undeclared candidate.
The event took place at Windsor High School.
