HARTFORD -- Tens of thousands of people are heading to Hartford Saturday for the annual Eversource Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K. The race kicks off at 8 a.m. but roads in and around the city will be closed for some time. It's the 23rd year of the race.

Roads will reopen as runners pass the area and police will direct cross traffic during the race when possible. But you should expect delays and detours.

The race starts at the State Capitol and finishes in Bushnell Park. For finished runners and spectators, there will be music, booths, and food.

Road closures and details for Saturday’s Hartford Marathon

It's important to note, for those living in downtown Hartford, even if your road is listed to close at 7:30 or 8 a.m., those cars needs to be off the street by 5 a.m. FOX 61's traffic reporter Rachel Lutzker said  Hartford police will ticket and tow starting at that time. So if you park on the street overnight, you may need to make alternate plans or wake up early.

Usually, there is a race-sponsored pasta dinner on the even of the race. But this year, organizers are offering deals and encourage people to support local restaurants. You can learn more about that here.

Best of luck to all of the runners!
