NEWINGTON–A fatal accident caused Route 175 to be closed in both directions Monday afternoon for about four hours.
The accident occurred around 2:36 p.m. on East Cedar Street, just west of the Wethersfield town line.
George Chikar, 94, was one of the drivers involved. He was killed in the crash. The other driver was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released.
The road was closed between Main Street and the Berlin Turnpike southbound.
