NORWICH– Norwich Police are asking for the public’s help in solving a murder case from 2011.

26 year old Jaclyn Wirth was shot and killed in front of her two children inside her apartment three years ago Sunday.

On December 14, 2011, Jaclyn Wirth was gunned down after someone fired nine shots through the door of her apartment on East Baltic Street in Norwich..

Wirth was struck seven times and later died from her injuries.

Jaclyn Wirth’s two children and family are preparing to spend yet another holiday without her.  On Sunday night, her family gathered by her grave site at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Norwich to remember her on the third anniversary of her death.

“She was the best to everyone, that’s why it’s so hard understand why this could happen to her,” said Peggy Lufkin.

Ronald and Peggy Lufkin—- Wirth’s aunt and uncle are now raising jaclyn’s two sons, who were both home when the 26-year-old mother was shot.

The oldest, Sergio, nicknamed Junie, is now 10, and his brother, Kymani, who goes by Kiki is now five years old.

“We give them all the love and care and everything we can– as if we were channeling her,” said Peggy Lufkin .

Police are pursuing leads in hopes of finding her killer — but they need more help.

The State of Connecticut is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

“They’ve been really diligent on their search, it’s just that people aren’t talking or coming forward,” Lufkin said.

Family members are hopeful this case will be solved… one day..

This spring— a New Haven couple donated the money  to give Jaclyn a headstone at her gravesite here at St Joesph’s Cemetery in Norwich.

Perhaps someone could also help identify a suspect.

“Somebody stepped up to make that happen for her. I wish someone stepped up and helped get justice for her,” said Lola Jayne, a closer friend of Jaclyn Wirth.

Police are pursuing leads in hopes of finding whoever killed Wirth. Norwich police are being assisted by the New London County Cold Case Unit.
