NEW BRITAIN -- A suspected serial killer is pleaded not guilty and waived his right to a probable cause hearing Monday at New Britain Superior Court.

William Devin Howell faced a judge via video conference.

Howell is accused of killing seven people more than a decade ago and dumping the bodies in New Britain. The Virginia native is currently serving 15 years in prison for one of the slayings and has pleaded not guilty to the other six.

All seven victims were killed in 2003 and later found buried in New Britain.

A state judge in New Britain entered the pleas Monday for Howell, who waived his right to the probable cause hearing, where prosecutors would have had to show there's enough evidence to go to trial.

One of Howell's former cellmates, Jonathan Mills who is serving a life sentence for killing four people, is a key prosecution witness.
