On October 8, 2011, Colleen Kelly Alexander was biking home from work when she was hit by a truck that ran a stop sign.

Colleen was run over by both the front and back tires, breaking her pelvis in two among a laundry list of injuries.

She flatlined within minutes of reaching Yale New Haven Hostipal because she lost so much blood her heart had nothing left to pump. She spent five weeks in Yale, 30 days of which was in a coma. She then was transferred Gaylord Medical Center where she spent six weeks.

To date she has endured 19 opertions and faces at least six more ahead. But thanks to Achilles International she has run 3 1/2 marathons and 15 other road races. She is registered for an Ironman this fall.
