HARTFORD -- It wasn't exactly high fashion around Bushnell Park Saturday as hundreds wore their ugliest Christmas sweater for a 5K run.
Part of Hartford's Winterfest celebrations, participants took to the streets for the 3.1 mile run through city streets and scenic parks. And when they crossed the finish line. runners could take a ride on a mechanical reindeer, take a family photo in a larger than life snow-globe, or run through some fake snow.
Some ran just for the fun of it. Some ran for a cause. Christine Ciaciura ran for her son who has a heart defect.
Prizes were awarded for ugliest sweater - naturally - in addition to best dog costume and best real - or fake - mustache. And the run collected coats for 'One Warm Coat' , which distributes those coats to anyone in need all across the country.
