VERNON — Police arrested two men on drug charges after a traffic stop lead to the discovery of narcotics.
Police said Officer Bryan Sembersky made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a headlight violation, near East Main and Court Streets, in the Rockville section of town.
Pedro Cartagena, 35, of Manchester, and Luis Banks, 23, of Manchester were in the vehicle according to police. Sembersky’s K9 partner Thor located a large amount of heroin hidden in the car according to police and Cartagena and Banks were arrested on narcotics charges.
Police said they found 1437 bags of heroin.
Cartagena was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics within 1500 ft. of a school/daycare and improper number of headlamps
Banks was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1500 ft. of a school/daycare
Cartagena is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond and Banks is being held on a $2,500 bond. Both will be arraigned at Rockville Superior Court.
