WATERTOWN — A 70 year-old woman was found dead inside her home in Watertown on Wednesday.

Police say 70-year-old Maryann Kibbe-Stanisz was found on the ground, and they believe she may have been assaulted. Police report that Kibbe-Stanisz had injuries to her head.

Police responded to 24 Bushnell Avenue in Oakville on a well-being check after a family member said they hadn’t heard from Kibbe-Stanisz.

Police also report that Kibbe-Stanisz’s car was taken as well. The car is being described as a gray PT Cruiser, and was found in the parking lot next to Lit Ultra Lounge at 483 West Main Street in Waterbury. The keys were not found.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the car, or may have video surveillance of the area to please contact them at 860-945-5200.

According to police, they say Kibbe-Stanisz had recently spoke to a handyman about tree work, and odd jobs around the house. Police say he’s not a suspect, but would like to talk to him.

This is an ongoing investigation, and police are waiting for and autopsy report.
