ELLINGTON— State police have located a hiker alive who has been missing since Saturday.
Police said Kimberly Kasulis was last seen in the area of Soapstone Mountain Trail in Ellington/Somers Saturday. State Police said she will be ok. She was transported for an evaluation, nothing to note medically. She was located by K9 searchers.
Dog teams, drones and volunteers worked alongside police as the races against the clock to locate Kimberly.
Police say they were worried about her medical condition.
“She does have some medical concerns, she does have allergies so being out here in this wooded area could be concerned for the family with those type of medical conditions,” said Trooper 1st Class Christine Jeltema with the Connecticut State Police.
Emergency crews responded to the command post. Police said her phone was found near her abandoned car.
From there, police say they had about a two mile radius stretch to maneuver and locate Kimberly.
Residents who live near the area say they were shocked to hear someone got lost in the woods.
Richard Vigneault said, “It’s fairly easy as long as you stay on the marked trails, you have all the marking and what not, but you can go a long way a ways in the woods on a trail… a trail.”
Residents say the woods can be a scary place and warn people to never walk the trails alone.
“I was telling my wife, if I was a woman I wouldn’t walk around up here, there are too many crazy people in the world today and too many up here. I seen a lot of crazy stuff going on around up here,” said Vigneault.
