CLEVELAND -- On Monday, Cleveland police officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback gave statements to Cuyahoga County Sheriff's investigators about the events surrounding the Nov. 22, 2014 shooting of Tamir Rice, 12, at the Cudell Recreation Center.
Those statements were later read to the Cuyahoga County grand jury investigating the Tamir Rice incident.
Both officers had been subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury. The statements were made in lieu of them appearing, according to attorney Henry Hilow, who represents Loehmann.

Those statements are expected to be released soon by Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty.
Hilow said "The officers wanted to give the grand jury an opportunity to hear their statements about the events of that day."
The grand jury heard the statements after hearing the testimony of Samaria Rice, Tamir's mother and two of her children.
