PLAINFIELD -- The community is on edge after Plainfield Police found 47-year-old Keith C. Coolidge dead inside his family’s camper Thursday afternoon.

After the discovery along Community Avenue, police charged Keith T. Coolidge - the victim’s half brother according to family- with violating a protective order and criminal trespassing. He appeared in Danielson Superior Court Friday morning.

Plainfield police said they do have a suspect but have not confirmed or denied if it is Coolidge.

The 37-year-old has a long criminal history, he was arrested for sexual assault in 2015 and was charged this year for domestic violence and disorderly conduct, after threatening his family with a machete.

Brandi Lavigne shares an eight-year-old son with Cooldige, she said she fears for her life.

“I need to know my kids are safe the only time i know there safe -even with a restraining order on him- is when’s locked up,” Lavigne said.

Taylor Yater lives on Community Avenue and said the entire neighborhood was well aware of Coolidge’s erratic behavior.

“I always thought he would make another crime happened but never so close to home in that very trailer over there,” neighbor Taylor Yater said.

No suspects have been publicly named in the homicide.

Cooldige is being held on a $150,000 bond for his current charges as the investigation into the homicide continues and is due back in court on January 17th.
