An Earth Day launch | The new drive-share steering a greener message

Earth Day marked the launch of Electra, a ride-share company begun by young entrepreneurs Kyle Bryan and Amanda Dyas.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — The start-up is called “Electra” and the idea behind it is as simple as getting from point A to point B in a cleaner, greener fashion.

Earth Day marked the launch of Electra, a ride-share company begun by young entrepreneurs Kyle Bryan and Amanda Dyas.

Their vehicle for change? Two Teslas.

Both Bryan and Dyas are sold on green technology and say they expect to find a clientele looking to do the same.

“We are definitely compared to Uber,” Dyas said, “but we are clean, we know are drivers and we are tracking saved emissions for each rider.” Bryan, a Hall High School grad and former tight end for Central Connecticut’s Football Team added, “we wanted to make sustainability cool and that’s what this is.”

Just like Lyft or Uber, riders download the Electra app (available on iOS) and can book a ride from there.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor took the very first ride from Town Hall to a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Farmington Avenue near Lasalle Road.

Cantor said, “I am so excited on Earth Day to be a part of this launch, I think this is what our younger generation is so in tune with and the older generation needs to be. This is part of a transformational change.” Bryan said, “our promise is to reduce carbon emissions, one mile at a time.”

The rideshare is operating a Tesla X and Tesla Y and hopes to increase its fleet of zero-emission cars in the months ahead. To find out more about Electra click here
