NEWINGTON, Conn. — Officials report Route 5/15 Southbound is closed Thursday morning.

According to a CT DOT alert, the Berlin Turnpike is closed at Richard Street due to a 5-vehicle crash.

FOX61's Lissette Nunez reports from the scene that six people have been transported to the hospital, but no children were involved. 

Police say none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.

It is still too early to know what caused the crash, officers said.

The road will reopen in the next hour or so.
