UNION, Connecticut — A tractor-trailer driver from New Hampshire was killed Thursday afternoon in a crash on I-84.
The crash happened on I-84 westbound between Exits 73 and 72 around 1:45 p.m. in Union.
The westbound side of the highway was closed for around seven hours.
According to the state Department of Transportation, a DOT crash attenuation truck was parked in the left lane, as part of a lane closure operation, when it was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer. The two trucks swerved to the left and struck the double-metal beam guardrail in the center median.
State Police say that Eric Poblenz from Manchester, New Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene. The DOT driver suffered only minor injuries.
