Six Flags New England debuts new thrill ride

Step aside Superman, there is a new Super in town

AGAWAM, Mass. — Looking for something thrilling? How about a trip to Six Flags New England, just over our state border?

We, of course, had to send FOX61’s Margaux Farrell to try out their newest ride.

You may remember, the last time she debuted a ride, Harley Quinn Spinsanity, her reaction video got 1.7 million views.

Now for the 2021 season, there’s a new ride!

Move over Superman, this year, it’s all about Supergirl Sky Flyer.

“Our goal is to make everyone feel like a superhero after riding,” said Jennifer McGrath from Six Flags.

Now, after being closed for 13 months, the park and the rides are back open.

“I almost get a little bit emotional when I see guests back in the park now that we are able to do so,” said McGrath.

The cousin ride to Superman is trading heights for spins.

“Supergirl Sky Flyer, she is intense,” said McGrath. “First and foremost, it’s our first thrill ride, you sit by yourself so you can’t even hold someone’s hand if you wanted to!”

The moral of the story? Don’t eat beforehand.

“You start off spinning on a huge wheel that tilts at about 80 degrees, which is pretty close to going upside down, multiple times,” said McGrath. “Of course, it’s floor-less, so you fly through the sky at 7 stories, it is a great ride, and I can’t wait for guests to get on it.”

If you are coming to the park, you can now buy tickets in person, as well as online. If you’re vaccinated, you can go without a mask – and if you’re not, don’t worry, there’s something to fix that coming up!

“Next week, so June 19th, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., we definitely want people to reserve their time on our website to learn more about this event,” said McGrath. “You get 2 free tickets to six flags after you get that vaccination.”

So whether it’s Supergirl, Superman, or any of the more than 100 attractions at this park, you’re sure to have a super time.

If you’re ready for some fun, tickets start at roughly $30.
