CONNECTICUT, USA — It was a week of adventure across Connecticut on the FOX 61 Morning News.
Keith McGilvery and Margaux Farrell took a Day Trippers tour to places your family will love.
The week started with high-flying fun in New Haven County. We headed for Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury.
“You get the personal touch everywhere you go you’re not waiting in line too long anywhere," said George Frantzis. “You can kinda relax and let the day go on autopilot, less planning, less rigidity, more free form fun.”
On Tuesday, we hit the rink for some old-fashioned fun at Roller Magic in Waterbury.
“Don’t think you are going to fall,” said Sara Tarmey. “If you think you are going to fall, you are going to fall, Just get out there and pretend you know how to skate and your body will just skate.
The ups and downs were fun and to skate with rentals will cost you about 15 bucks.
Wednesday, we traded the rink for the rails, where we headed for the Essex Steam Train for and to the rail bikes on an 8-mile stretch.
“This, this is something that I think has really added us onto the map,” said Carmen from Lake Quassy.“We are not just a railroad with trains, we are not just a Christmas train... it’s all about the adventure and the experience.”
On Thursday, I hit the links at Oakwood Virtual Golf in Glastonbury…
We finished the week ready to explore at the Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine in East Granby!
“People love the mine because it is modern steps down, so you are not really sure what you are getting into,” said Morgan Bengel, from the Old New-Gate Prison and Copper Mine. “Then, you are 75 feet underground, and you eventually get to 75 feet underground.
