WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a new executive order that could impact your travel plans.
Governor DeSantis is mandating travelers
flying from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to self-quarantine when they arrive in Florida. The self-quarantine would last 14 days or the duration of their visit, whichever one is shorter.
Passengers staying with family in Florida are not exempt from this.
The governor stated that travelers will be met on board with local police and the Florida Department of Health. Passengers may get their temperature checked and will be required to fill out paperwork and then self-quarantine
The announcement was made as the death toll continues to rise in the U.S. Governor DeSantis called the NYC area a hotspot.
“I would reckon, given the outbreak there, that every single flight has somebody on it who's positive for COVID-19," said Gov. DeSantis.
Violation of this order could result in jail time, a fine, or both.
