PLAINVILLE -- It’s here and it’s huge, we’re talking about the hype for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”  The movie is premiering across the globe today and here in Connecticut anticipation is brewing.

Thursday at 7 p.m. theaters across the state will show the early bird showings. Otherwise, the movie’s general opening is Friday. That is, if you were lucky enough to score a ticket.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “The Force Awakens” smashes ticket records with more than $100 million in US presales. That’s four times the revenue of the previous record holder, "The Dark Knight Rises."

If you are out of luck, check out Craigslist. There is a pair for the first showing at the Berlin Starplex listed for $60.

Many fans love to see the movie in authentic Star Wars inspired costumes. If you plan to dress up be aware of new rules being enforced by movie theaters.  This is following recent movie theater shootings in Aurora, CO and Lafayette, LA.

  • Bow Tie Cinemas Rules
    • Costumes will be allowed but face coverings, face paint, capes, cloaks or  weapons like lightsabers and blasters will not be permitted.
  • AMC Theater Rules
    • Masks and face paint are banned. Lightsabers and blasters are allowed, but you must turn them off during the movie.
  • Cinemark/Rave Rules
    • Costumes are welcome. No face coverings, face paint or simulated weapons (including lightsabers/blasters) in the building.
  • Regal Movie Theater Rules
    • Costumes allowed, but can not cover face with mask and no lightsabers or blasters.
