NORWALK, Conn. — A woman who left an injured older man unattended at the Fairfield Family Care Center in Norwalk in November 2023 was arrested in Orange on Wednesday, according to a release from the Norwalk Police Department.
Lydia Lungile, 40, of Newark, N.J., has been charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree and cruelty to persons, the release said.
According to police, in November 2023, detectives found an older man left unattended and injured at the Fairfield Family Care Center. He had sustained his injuries after falling out of his bed during the overnight hours.
Detectives collected evidence, interviewed witnesses and determined that Lungile was the aid in charge of the man’s care and ignored the victim, police said. Following the investigation, a warrant was granted for Lungile.
Police said that detectives from the Special Victims Unit worked with a Norwalk police officer assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest Lungile; she was found on Wednesday in Orange by Norwalk Special Services Division Officers and taken into custody.
Lungile faces a $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 5, police said.
