Around 3 p.m. on Friday, law enforcement responded to a call for a man stabbed in the vicinity of 129 South Main St., police said, noting that officers arrived on scene in less than a minute and found the victim being treated by a bystander.

Officers rendered medical aid to the victim, who was taken to Norwalk Hospital by Norwalk paramedics, according to police, who said that officers secured the crime scene and began looking for witnesses.

Detectives were able to identify Goldstein as the individual responsible for the stabbing and discovered that he reportedly left the scene in a Honda Odyssey minivan, police said. Detectives continued to investigate, as the information was shared with law enforcement agencies throughout the area.

Later that evening, around 7:35 p.m., a trooper from the Connecticut State Police Troop G barracks came across the van Goldstein was in and began following it on Interstate 95 while waiting for backup to assist, police said.

Goldstein’s vehicle was stopped on Interstate 95 with help from Westport police; Goldstein was a passenger in the van and was detained by Westport police and troopers from the state police, according to Norwalk police, who responded and took Goldstein into custody.
