Bristol man arrested in Christmas death of his grandmother

Anthony Jones is being held on $5 million bond.

BRISTOL, Conn. — A Bristol man was charged in connection to the death of his grandmother on Christmas, according to police.

On the morning of Dec. 25, Bristol police were called to a reported burglary on Morningside Drive West. They found Diane Jones, 83, had cuts to her neck and "blunt force trauma" wounds to her torso, according to the Office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner.

When officers got to the scene, they found Jones dead in her bedroom. Officials ruled Jones' death suspicious, and her death was being investigated as a "potential crime," police said at the time.

Police said the victim’s grandson, Anthony Jones, 39, became a suspect. Jones is charged with Murder and is being held on a $5,000,000 bond and will be arraigned at New Britain Superior Court.
