On Jan. 20, the East Hartford Police Department responded to numerous calls reporting that shots were fired in the rear lot of the Bank of America on Main Street, police said. Upon arrival, police said they discovered an uninjured victim and a grey 2023 Kia sedan that had sustained gunfire.

The victim said he was pulling into an electric vehicle charging port station “when confusion arose with another motorist operating a gray sedan,” police said.

The victim believed he was being signaled and parked his vehicle. Not long after, the operator of the other sedan drove out of the rear lot onto Garvan Street and fired multiple rounds at the victim’s 2023 Kia, police said, adding that the suspect then drove off.

Investigators working on the case identified Jackson as a suspect. They obtained an arrest warrant for him before apprehending him on April 12, police said.

Jackson has been charged with first-degree criminal attempt assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Jackson was held on a court bond set at $100,000.
