HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford firefighters responded to reports of a fire at 62 Stafford Street Sunday evening. The fire claimed the lives of nine chickens housed within the coop.

When they arrived, they discovered a chicken coop engulfed in flames in the backyard of the home, officials said. The fire had spread to the siding of the two-car garage behind the home. It was promptly extinguished.

No civilian or firefighter injuries have been reported in connection with the incident, officials stated.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.
