Chicago man arrested after armed robbery at auto parts store in West Hartford: Police

A store employee was found with non-life-threatening injuries from the robbery, police said. An unknown amount of money had been taken, which was later recovered.

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — A man was arrested after an armed robbery at an auto parts store in West Hartford on Tuesday, according to the town's police department.

Luis Pagan, 38, of Chicago, Ill. is facing charges of robbery in the first degree, breach of peace in the second degree, larceny in the fifth and sixth degree, criminal mischief in the second and third degree, risk of injury to a child, assault in the second degree, unlawful restraint, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer.

According to police, officers arrived at 2:44 p.m. to the Advance Auto Parts store on New Park Avenue after receiving a report about an armed robbery with a gun.

A store employee was found with non-life-threatening injuries from the robbery, police said. Officers also learned that an unknown amount of money had been taken during the incident, which was later recovered.

Emergency dispatchers told them that a male suspect, later identified as Pagan, had taken off from the scene on a bike headed north on New Park Avenue. Officers found him near the intersection of New Park Avenue and Merrill Street, possessing an object that resembled a gun, and took him into custody.

Pagan was held on a $250,000 bond and expected to appear in Hartford Superior Court on Wednesday.
