LITCHFIELD, Conn. — A Massachusetts man was sentenced in Litchfield on Thursday after being charged and convicted of sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after he sexually assaulted a female victim in Connecticut between 2011 and 2017, according to a release from the state’s Division of Justice.

Joshua Frenette, 41, of Granville, Mass. was sentenced to 25 years in prison, execution suspended after 15 years served, followed by 25 years of probation, the DOJ said, adding that he was also ordered to register with the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry and to obey three standing criminal protective orders.

Evidence presented at trial revealed that Frenette sexually assaulted a female victim for a period of about six years when the victim was between ages seven and 13. The assaults occurred in various locations in West Hartland, Winsted and Bridgeport, DOJ said, noting that testimony presented at trial showed years of physical and emotional abuse that the victim and her two siblings were subjected to by the defendant.
