EAST HAVEN, Conn. — An East Haven man died after his car crashed into a tree on Forbes Place midday on Thursday.
Police were called to the area of Forbes Place and Sydney Street just after noon after a patrol officer saw a Toyota Highlander hit a tree.
Wilber Nazario, who would have turned 48 on Saturday, was driving south on Forbes Place when he passed a mail truck that was signaling to turn left onto Sydney Street, according to police.
Nazario's Toyota left the roadway, went onto the sidewalk and then hit a tree, according to police. The mail truck was not hit, police said.
Nazario was rescued from his SUV before being taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to police.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call East Haven police at 203-468-3820.
