Upon arriving on scene, the crew from Engine 3 found a 57-year-old male about 100 feet off the footpath and about 30 feet down a steep cliff face, the fire department said.

Crews assembled a mainline and belay rope system and assisted a firefighter down to rescue the victim, according to the fire department, which said the man had no injuries and was just unable to make his way back up the cliff.

The firefighter put the man in a harness while the rope system was transitioned to a haul system, and companies successfully raised the victim and the rescuer safely off the cliff ledge; the man was then evaluated by an ambulance on scene, the fire department said.

According to the fire department, the man eventually refused further medical treatment, and all companies cleared and returned to their respective bases.
