EAST HAVEN--The East Haven community continues to mourn.

On Friday night, around 100 people gathered on the green to remember two young children who were found dead in their home earlier this week.

"I just think it's sad. They're too young to go," said Mary-Jo Dynan, an East Haven resident.

The community members lit candles and said prayers for Darron Moore, who would have turned 8 years old this month, and his younger sister, 6-year-old Aleisha.

Mayor Joe Maturo and local members of the clergy attended and said a few words for the family.

Lisa Criscoulo, who lives just two doors away from the children's home, organized the vigil as a way for the community to grieve together.

We cannot believe this actually happened. We're still in shock. I don't think we'll ever fully recover from this," said Criscuolo.

Back at the house on Strong Street, a memorial remains days after police were called to the home. On Tuesday, officers reported the home smelled of gas, saying the children were likely dead for more than 24 hours before they were found.

Officers are calling the deaths suspicious, but so far no arrests have been made.

The children's father, MIchael Moore, thanked the community for what he calls overwhelming support at the vigil.

"It's a great blessing. It actually restored my faith in humanity that there are people out there that are willing to help," said Moore.

B.C. Bailey Funeral Home in Wallingford reached out to the family earlier this week. They are covering the cost of the services because of the tragic nature of these two young children's deaths.

"It's a great blessing that it actually restored my faith in humanity that there are people out there that are willing to help," Moore said of the gesture.
