A good Samaritan in Hamden suffered some injuries last week after a heroic rescue.
On July 15 a 54-year-old local resident was driving on Evergreen Avenue when he saw a large turtle crossing the road. The man stopped and got out to help move the turtle across the street.
While he was assisting the turtle a loose dog attacked the man, leaving serious bite wounds to his leg and forearm.
The police responded to a call regarding the incident at approximately 4:30 p.m., and the man was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The Hamden Police Department’s Animal Control Division is trying to find the dog responsible for the attack. It is described as a “black-colored, long-haired Labrador” who was wearing a collar. If you have any information on this dog please contact the animal control division at 203-230-4075.
