CANON CITY, Colo. — A Colorado sheriff’s office used social media to spread a very important message: Don’t drink and drive.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in Canon City posted a photo on its Facebook page Sunday. The image shows a child in her mother’s trooper hat and explains that her mother will no longer be around. The little girl will grow up without her mother.
The caption reads:
“For anyone who is planning on just having a ‘few beers’ and driving home after, look at this little girl. She will grow up without her Mother, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jamie Jursevics, who was hit by a drunk driver and killed last week. Is it worth it? #DrunkDrivingKills #DriveSober #MoveOver #CSP #TrooperJursevics #FCSO”
By noon on Monday, the post had already been shared more than 4,000 times around the country. There is a gofundme page raising money for Trooper Jursevics here.
