STAMFORD — Police arrested a Norwalk man on accusations he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Stamford home and gagged her with tape.

The Stamford Advocate reports 30-year-old Bhaumik Patel was arraigned Wednesday on charges of home invasion, burglary, unlawful restraint and assault in connection with the Tuesday night break-in.

Police say Patel told officers he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and bound her to let her know she’d be endangering herself if she treated men like she treated him.

Patel says the 26-year-old woman cut off contact and told co-workers he was a stalker.

Police say Patel dialed 911, admitted his kidnapping plan and let officers into the building’s lobby. The court clerk’s office said Patel does not yet have a lawyer to represent him.

His next court appearance is set for Dec. 22.
