There's nothing like getting lost in a good book.

Wednesday is National Read Across America Day which is celebrated every year on March 2, the birthday of late writer and illustrator Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.

Geisel born in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. He is remembered at the Dr. Seuss Memorial Gardens.

The initiative was created by the National Education Association.

Locally Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin read a Dr. Seuss book to a class of 4th grade student at Betances STEM Magnet School. FOX 61's Al Terzi read to students in Southington.

Schools across the state planned special programs for the day.

The goal?

To encourage children and teens to read.

Adults can also take a lesson from this.

Pick up an interesting book today and enjoy.
