SOUTH WINDSOR -- Police are trying to pin down a suspect after a failed home invasion.

On Sunday, September 13 around 1 a.m. a resident of the Twin Circle Drive condominiums returned home to find a stranger in her first-floor apartment.

She called police to report the attempted burglary, saying when she opened her front door she saw a tall, thin black man who looked like he was in his mid-20s. The suspect was wearing all black and a hoodie, and standing in the victim's kitchen with what appeared to be a gun in his hand.

The victim ran out of her apartment and called 911.

A canine unit was brought in, but police didn't find the suspect.

Police say the suspect entered through the victim's unlocked window in her first-floor unit, and police are using the opportunity to remind residents to secure windows and doors when not home and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident is requested to contact the South Windsor Police at 860-644-2551.
