WEST HAVEN — The state has approved applications for medical-marijuana farms in West Haven, Portland, Simsbury and Watertown.
The four companies to win licenses are:
— Advanced Grow Labs LLC, for facility in West Haven.
— Connecticut Pharmaceutical Solution LLC, in Portland
— Curaleaf LLC, in Simsbury
— Theraplant LLC, in Watertown
Sixteen companies had applied for a producer’s license.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein announced the selection Tuesday morning at 400 Frontage Road in West Haven, the site of the Advanced Grow Labs proposal.
The state Department of Consumer Protection, which runs the program, expects to award licenses for medical marijuana dispensaries by April.
Also Tuesday, the department released the latest numbers on the Connecticut Medical Marijuana Program.
Patients certified: 1,684
Breakdown by county: Fairfield, 424; Hartford, 321; Litchfield, 108; Middlesex, 87; New Haven, 514; New London, 118; Tolland, 46; Windham, 66.
Applicants for dispensary: 27
Applicants for producer: 16
In 2012, the state legislature voted to legalize marijuana use for patients who get a physician’s certificate of need.
