About 44 percent of the country is in drought.  But we have the opposite problem. Too much rain!

Thursday afternoon Bloomfield picked up 1.5”-3” in a couple of hours. But the majority of the state stayed dry. That’s the essence of the forecast for the next week or so. Hit or miss showers and storms. The exception will be overnight into Friday morning when thunderstorms will become more widespread.

Scattered showers and storms will continue Friday.  Any storms that develop have the potential to produce heavy rain and localized flooding. Small streams, low lying areas and poor drainage areas are most vulnerable. The weekend isn’t a complete washout. But you will need to run inside from time to time with scattered storms both days.

A flash flood watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon.

Overnight: Showers and storms becoming widespread. Low: Near 70.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms; some storms could be strong with heavy rain, lightning. High: Low 80s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Remaining humid. High: Low to mid 80s.

Sunday: Mix of sun and clouds, muggy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. High: Low to mid 80s

Monday: Cloudy and muggy with periods of rain, some heavy at times. Another chance for poor drainage flooding. High: Low 80s

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy and muggy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High: Mid 80s
