HARTFORD - State employee layoffs are now under way. Unions have filed labor grievances. Among the workers receiving notices is a supervising psychologist at DCF, Gail DeMarco, who's been with the agency for 12 years. She is Al and Jenn's guest, as is David Pickus, president of SEIU District 1199.
Earlier in the week, state employee layoffs also got underway in Connecticut’s court system. The branch’s budget is expected to be cut $11 million more in the 2017 fiscal year beginning July 1 than was previously expected. In all, about $86 million will be cut.
