Connecticut's 2024 Presidential Primary: What to know

This guide can help voters cast their ballots in the 2024 Presidential Primary Election.

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Presidential Primary Election in Connecticut is on today with polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

State lawmakers recently passed legislation moving Connecticut’s Presidential Primary election from the last Tuesday in April to the first Tuesday. This is the first election cycle in which this has happened.

This guide can help voters cast their ballots in the 2024 Presidential Primary Election.

Who are the candidates?

While some candidates listed below have since pulled their campaigns out of the race, their names may still appear on the ballot. These are the presidential candidates and the order they will appear on the ballot on Tuesday, April 2:

Democrats:

  1. Marianne Williamson
  2. Dean Philips
  3. Cenk Uygur
  4. Joe Biden

Republicans:

  1. Ron DeSantis
  2. Nikki Haley
  3. Donald Trump
  4. Ryan Binkley

As of March 8, Donald Trump remains the only listed Republican running for President, while incumbent Joe Biden and Marianne Williamson have continued their Democrat presidential campaign.

Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas' legal team determined per the state statute, former president Trump can appear on the primary ballot and that her office has no authority to keep him off of the ballot. Several states have questioned Trump's eligibility to run because of his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and the issue was raised to the Supreme Court.
