NORTH BRANFORD -- For the Rapuano family, baseball is more than a sport. It's been a way of life watching, playing, and umpiring. Ed Rapuano Sr. "Ed Rap," as he's known in East Haven, has been calling them as he's seen them for 50 years.
Sunday marked the end of an era and the changing of the guard.
Rapuano called just one more pitch, as family members and friends gathered at the Connecticut Sportsplex in North Branford, to honor him.
Ed's grandson Michael replaced him behind the plate.
Ed's son Ed Rapuano Jr. has been a major league umpire for 23 years. He says he learned it all from his dad.
